Strategy games worth the brainpower on a small screen
Strategy on mobile has a rough reputation, mostly earned. Cramming a genre built for a mouse onto a touchscreen goes wrong more often than right. But when it clicks, it's some of the most rewarding play on the platform.
Ironline Command sold me because it designs for the phone from the ground up. Small unit counts, readable maps, and orders that survive fat fingers. It's tense without being fiddly, which is a tricky balance.
My advice for anyone new to the genre on mobile: start slow, learn one mechanic at a time, and don't be afraid to replay a mission. These games reward understanding, not speed.
There's a real thrill in outsmarting a system with limited tools. Few genres deliver that as cleanly.
